iPhones and iPads
« on: December 29, 2016, 23:02:07 »
Today I got both of these up and running in conjunction with my Pixi 4's and a Samsung 5".
The iPhones and IPad performed well with no real problems.
Some of my members are wedded to their Apple devices so my intention is to let them use them if they want.

I am getting a Blackberry Android in the new year and will try it out so that should be fun.

Hi Reg

What emulator did you use for the iPhones and iPads to use the BridgePal application?

I know this original posting was in 2016 but I've just joined the forum, so I'm having a go at using the forum.

Hi Trevor,

If you are using iPhone or iPad you don't need an emulator, you just run BridgePal from within the Safari browser. This is possible because all the BridgePal app displays are in fact just html displays rendered in a browser encapsulated within the app.

The BridgePal app does have a few features which are not available when running within a browser. For example, you need to know the ip address of the PC running the scoring program, whereas the BridgePal app discovers this automatically. However, there are methods to configure the router or the PC so that the PC always receives the same ip address when connecting to the wifi network, so this is not a significant problem.

The procedure for using BridgePal from a browser is described in a bit more detail at https://mirgo2.co.uk/bridgepal/index.php?section=22
