Kindles in action!
« on: August 03, 2019, 11:40:47 »
Hi All,

Last Sunday I arranged a bridge day at a local Golf Club. 40 players turned up to what turned out to great day all round (what a great alternative as the weather was absolutely diabolical - the 18th hole was well and truly under water!). We played a Mitchell share and relay movement - so no skipping! Pity more tables could not be accommodated. Non of the North players had seen Bridgepal in use before and took to it like ducks to water!
We played a morning and afternoon session - each about 2 and a half hours.  The hot lunch, provided by the Golf Club, was excellent - too much for some! There are a few things that need addressing - but nothing major - hopefully sorted by the next time we play.
10 Kindle Fire (5th generation) were in use for the first time, all of which performed well. With only a slight adjustment to them I'm certain it is possible to get 3 three hour sessions with them before recharging.. Even after exhaustive testing only one battery suffered - initially I used a resistive adjustable dummy load for testing to simulate a discharge cycle. There were no WiFi drop outs. To be fair there were three Kindles that locked up but as soon as Bridgepal was restarted all was fine. John G looked through all of my logs and came to the conclusion that there may be a bug in Webview.
Having had only positive comments I may well set up a another day of bridge before the end of the year.

Tony
