Fire Tablet 7 9th Gen set up for BridgePal
« on: February 09, 2025, 19:01:36 »
From IRSKINNER:

I have checked out several posts on Bridgepal site & forum & done a bit of YouTubing.
I have managed to sort most items using ?Fire Toolbox v38.0? plus some of the standard Fire 7 Setting. However, I am not entirely satisfied with the results. It now appears impossible to set up an alternative ?Custom Launcher?, using Bridgepal as Launcher, for the tablet or to pin Bridgepal as the only app.  Bridgepal forum posts about this are all out of date following new Fire OS updates.
Do you have or know of any up-to-date detailed instructions for setting up ?Amazon Fire Tablets? for Bridgepal.

Attached is the best I can do, but can?t get rid of ?search the web and more? bar despite Settings-Device Options-Search Bar ?display search bar on lock screen? being off. Also can?t turn off ?For You? & ?Home? keys.

The issue appers to be the removal of default app settings in latest Fire OS.  It is no longer posible to set a default Launch app in the Tablet settings anymore. Even using Android Debug Bridge (ADB) to set default launcher to  to say "Nova Launcher" doesnt appear to work. Not sure where to go from here?

I think you just have to accept that it's not possible but I don't see it as a big issue. If someone exits the app, either deliberately or by tapping the Home button, then it can just be restarted by tapping on the BridgePal icon. The BridgePal app will resume to the point where it was before it exited. It's just a question of making sure that players know this.
